i never really loose mine but i just hate having to dig through all the stuff that it get tangled up in on the passenger side floor at 5am. the lighting in my truck sucks that early in the morning. i am almost thinking of velcrowing it to the roof. my brush/scraper only cost me $2 so it not too much of a loss if i ever was to lose it.

In Georgia where open carry is legal, I tend to carry open, but not always. Usually the Glock or my 1911A. If I'm doing something outdoors like fishing where I will often come across a Cottonmouth, I'll often carry my Ruger .44 Mag and have a speed loader in my pocket with six loads of "rat shot" in it.
If I'm totin' it, then it's always loaded with Hydra-Shocks, no matter which gun it is.

As far as in my vehicles, if I'm not carrying, I'll have a pistol inside and I'll often have a shotgun and/or assault type rifle loaded in my Sky Rack. Just a quick tug on a velcro strap and the forward most gun will drop right into my hands without having to leave the driver seat...

How did you go about mounting that overhead rack? I was thinking about getting one. Do you think it will fit in my regular cab?

Trusty old Colt Trooper MkIII .357 next to the bed. Never had to use it at home and hope I never do.

It comes with self-tapping mounting screws and instructions. It will work fine on a single cab. The guy who had the first one I ever saw and convinced me to go get one had his in a regular cab Chevy pickup.

The thing I like about it is that where it mounts, it's impossible to see any guns from outside the vehicle unless you get right up to the side window, put your face just about to the glass and look straight up...
