im new here but not new around these trucks. my dad owned a 2000 ram 1500 larmine 5.9 for almost 10 years and i always liked that truck. well here in indiana we get really bad snow and since my dad got rid of his ram this past year iv had the want to get a ram like he had. so how expensive are these trucks now a day? im wanting a pretty much replica of what my old man had. 98 - 01 ram 1500 with the 5.9 360 magnum, shoft bed with an extended cab, burgandy preferably lol. so whats the price range im looking for? im willing to spend up around 5 for one if i find the right one but im just looking for a round about. right now im driving my 86 camaro around and with just alittle bit of snow i found myself sidesways so im looking forward to a truck lol.

Well how hard is it to find a truck like I Posted above? The 98-01 1500 with the 5.9 magnum, extended cab short bed? Are they pretty common? How about the purple ones. Was that a common color?

 

You should be able to find a nice extended cab 4x4 with less than 125,000 miles with 5 Grand.

Check your local Craigslist daily. That's what I did and I found mine with only 96,000 miles and I got it for $3,800. After I sold all the extra stuff that came with it that I didn't want, I pretty much got it for $3,200. Keep in mind trucks like that in my area go for 5k-8k all day. So try Craigslist, just stay away from the scam ads.

If I was smart, I would have sold it 2 months after I bought it when my cousin offered me $7k, before I got attached to it.


These Dodge's are pretty common, not as much as Furds or Silverados, but still really common, as for the purple color, that is pretty rare.

Anyway..... depending on how much you drive it may be worthwhile to buy the 3rd generation ram considering how much extra it may cost in repairs and gas for most of the older 2nd gen ones out there.... these are not easy on either of them....Most of the members here love to constantly be working on them and for many its their first truck...

I had a camaro several years ago and had no problem at all in snow. Although it did have the POS 2.8L. You want crap in snow, try a '79 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd, pretty close to legally bald tires, no floorboards, windows that didn't work, and no heater. That thing was BAD. Had that it high school.

 

Since you no longer have said Camaro, did you cut off your mullet?
