so the cop can get your license plate right but he can not get the model right? as far as i know the ticket is suppose to be a legal document and any error made on it should make it no good. i don't even think you would have to take it to court. you might be able to take it to a police station and get them to take care of it. if they run the plate number on the ticket and it show that the plates on the ticket are not registered to a dakota like the cop said.

Call a lawyer in your area and ask about the ticket. With any luck you can get a straight up legit answer for free.

if you dont have to miss work and not get paid than id say fight it. worst case scenario you end up paying it. Most likely i believe they will reduce or drop it (most likely reduce) and ive had my share (and enough for others share) of run in with the law and court

is a good resource for help fighting them.

Hey, Thanks for that link.

It says on there that,
"While driving in the opposite direction, by clicking the "time" switch as you pass a point well ahead of the patrol car and by simultaneously pressing the "time" and the "distance" buttons as your cars go past each other—setting the second point. Then the officer presses the "distance" switch as he or she reaches the first point where he or she started to time you. (The officer then makes a quick U-turn to pull you over.)"

The cop that pulled me over was already pulling over, had his take down lights on, and was making the U-turn before I even passed him, and I have video to prove it from my Dash Cam. According to that site, that's the only way to get a reading from VASCAR when coming from opposite directions.

I say fight it but the way law inforcement and the government are these days they will probably double your fine and sentence you to community service with out the possibility of parole.

Fight it, it can't hurt. I got pulled over not long ago for turning on a no turn on red (didn't see the sign). Supposed to be a $130 ticket with 2 points, went in and they knocked it to a $50 parking ticket, no points.

From what i've been told often times they will just change it to impeding traffic (no points) with an increased fine or knock it down a lower level speeding ticket.

Unless it is a major inconvenience because of work or something i'd fight it. I'd guess that 17 over is a pretty decent fine and probably 3 points or so.

my speedo only goes to 120 and it was a little past... but 450 dollar ticket for speeding and a reckless....

he said if i was going 5mph fast i would of went to jail for double the limit

so i can't imagine your ticket being that high

I used to work for the court system as a technology consultant and have sat through a ton of traffic cases for the purpose of digital court recording.

Fight it. 1st of all, most Judges lend more credence to hard data (radar) or a tracking (cop driving at a constant distance between him and you) for speed verification. Judge probably won't throw out the ticket, but will more than likely reduce it.

Oh and as for you doing 135 in a 70, biggreen, don't come to Georgia. 70 in a designated residential area and 105 anywhere automatically suspends your license and gets you a free ride to the pokey...
