I had a Rugby II for a couple months, but for me it wasn't near what I hoped for, maybe I just got a lemon. The battery locking thing didn't work right so the battery would fall out everytime I dropped it. It would do random crap like freeze up and shut down for no reason, or give me the way too frequent "emergency calls only" when I tried to make a call (probably AT&Ts fault). Too me it felt kinda cheap for being able to meet "military specs". Also the center button being for internet is a PITA. Then again I have got my insurance suspended before for too many claims, maybe I'm just hard on shiat

My old Nokia was doing great until I bent over to pick something up while at the same moment, the axe in my right hand swung forward with the motion of my body. The phone slipped out of my shirt pocket and made contact with the axe, which resulted in the screen being cracked and the speaker no longer working to alert me of incoming text messages. Since my cell phone is my only phone (why the hell have a landline???) I need something with a loud volume. I had tried a freebie LG clamshell phone during a past upgrade and could barely hear it 3' away from me. Obviously, I keep my phone nearby when working so it's bound to get jostled, bounced, and even dropped. It sounds like you would benefit from the Sonim. Buying a phone outright doesn't scare me since that's what I had done with the Nokia, and since the Sonim comes with a 3-year no questions asked warranty, I think I'm inclined to pick one up.

Lol, its crazy what can happen to phones, seems like, if it CAN happen it WILL! A 3-yr warranty would be sweet, I don't think I've ever owned a phone that long. Defiantly somin worth lookin into when my LG dies. If you pick one up be sure to report back what ya think of it!

Will do. I embedded a link to Sonim's site in my initial post. You should go to the website and review the specs. Be advised, the best place to buy one is from a retailer or (very carefully) on E-Bay. Sonim's site lists them for $500+, while the retailer's have them around $350.

Yeah I had an Otter Box for my old phone, just got an LG Thrill when I fired Verizon and went to AT&T a couple months back (I got tired of having NO signal at my own house when my friends had five out of five bars on AT&T or Sprint). Plus I have basically unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data for about 20 bucks a month more than Verizon was gauging me for just 700 minutes, 500 texts and NO data.

I just about check Otter Box's website once a week waiting for them to come out with a case for this new phone...

That's the one both my wife and myself have. It has been good. The only thing I've found that it won't hold up to is a 15-20 foot drop onto concrete.

Not too many phones will handle that, however, So far I'm not too pleased with the battery life.

Well this thread reminded me to check Otter Box's site again, nothing yet, so I did a search and found this one - for under $20 shipped it's worth trying anyway. I'm currently using one of those $5 plastic snap on deals which about all that it'll do is maybe keep me from scratching it up. Reviews on this one are pretty good...
