What do you do to your truck on a regular bases? (IE- at every oil change, ever XXXXmiles, every so many months... how often do you change your oil? tranny fluid? etc..)

figure this would be a nice thread to have.

i wrote my oil change sticker up for 5000km (3100 miles). i bought the stuff to do a trans fluid and filter change a couple of months ago but have not done it yet. the thing shifts so beautiful that i don't know if i want to do anything to it. just keeping it topped up because it has got a very slow leak.

At every oil change (3000 miles) check air filter and tap it out, clean PCV, grease front end, look for any leaks, possible problems. I change the trans fluid on the cars usually every year to 1 1/2 years; depends on the mileage but the longest mileage wise I would let it go would be 30,000 miles. I probably don't check the rear often enough- usually just a few times a year. As long as it's not leaking; no problem. Change it every couple of years. I don't put a ton of miles on the truck though. Backflush and change coolant every few years. I don't really have a set schedule but I keep a little memo book on all the cars of the mileage/date and what I did. Also any problems and what fixed it for future reference in case I can't remember later lol.

I just follow the FSM service schedule, in my case Light Duty Schedule B. I don't actually check the oil and windshield washer reservoir at every fill-up unless we're road tripping, but other than that I stick pretty closely to the schedule. I'm actually a little bit ahead on a few things.

I'll throw my list in

Weekly
Check ALL lights
check tire pressure with quality gauge
give engine once over
check oil
get gas
take out garbage from interior
spray truck off at the quick wash place

Every oil change-5000miles

all of above
Rotate tires
Change oil/filter with Mobile 1 and K/n filter
Check/replace air filter(every 10k usually due to dust here)
Grease everything
check all joints, bearings, damage..etc for issues(basically do a look over of the truck
Check ALL fluids
wash truck
clean interior

Once a year
all of the above plus
change any fluids that need changing
wax/clay bar truck
align/balance/rotate
check battery.
sea foam
spark plugs

oil-5000miles. mobile one 10-30 in summer, 5-20 in winter
tranny fluid every-2years/30k ATF4
t-case/diffs- 3-5 years use full synthetic in diffs
Brake fluid every time i change brakes i flush it
Power steering fluid- 5 years--full synthetic stuff
Coolant- roughly use a 60 coolant 40% water mix every 2 years (full flush as well)

Umm, let's not forget lubing the muffler bearings every 100 miles or so !

I pretty much stick to the manual as unreg does, but I think with dino oil these days and a quality filter, the oil change can go longer. I'm going to start off with every 4000 and see how that goes.

I can't find the article, but I read that on a Dodge Ram , synthetic blinker fluid can actually reduce the life of the lens.
