got a parking ticket
me and buddy drove my truck to Chicago yesterday. it normally takes 3 hrs to get there and it took us 6 haha, we went south into ohio and went through indiana taking back roads the whole way trying to stay on dirt as much as possible. but finally we got there and we went downtown by the sears town and stuff, and found a place to eat and parked. well i thought my payment on the meeter went through but it didnt so i got a parking ticket.
will not paying the ticket effect me in any way? im never gonna go back there again. i know there not gonna like hunt me down and force me. but say if i go to buy a gun and they do a back ground check will it come up i have the unpaid ticket and i wont be able to buy a gun?
total trip was jus over 500 miles...

Most states now have reciprocal agreements with other states, especially neighboring states, so not paying a fine in Chicago will in all likelihood get your license suspended (or the registered owner of the vehicle if not you).
I used to work in the data end of law enforcement and trust me just in the county I worked in there were a couple of dozen license suspension orders coming in from other states over the computer every week for things from unpaid parking tickets to speeding tickets and so forth. The FINES associated with a suspended license and late fees on not paying the fine amount to many times the initial parking ticket. Pay it...

I have a couple parking tickets I've never paid in another state from about 14 years ago. I haven't had a problem. BUT, I've heard (but not proven to me) that they can show. If so, thats when you'll be concidered a fugitive from justice.
EDIT: Gun laws are tricky, confusing, agravating, etc. You can have one law enforcement agency tell you you cannot own a firearm, yet at the same time another says you can. Whether it's on the local level, state, or federal the laws are different, and most disturbing, interpreted differently. If they "think" you shouldn't own, they won't allow you or make it difficult to own. Even if you read the law to the letter and you qualify for a purchase, if they feel there is more to what is stated and documented, they can deny you. This is a whole new can of worms that I've been trying to follow. And so far I'm not completely able to. There are simply way to many variables.
Best thing to do is if you want to purchase a firearm, just pay the ticket and know there will be no problem with it.

X2. Or, the city will hire debt collectors to harass you, which means even more money out of pocket.

Hell yea I would have already payed it.... Not worth the hassle of fighting it or having to reinstate a suspended license plus fees can add up quick because if they have to find you they will try to charge you for that and depending on local laws win the case
