Default Question about automotive brands.

Hope this is in the right section. I don't see it as being tech related. but feel free to move it.

Alright my question is this. What are the go to brands? And the stay away from brands?

Ive never had to really buy anything for my truck other then oil and oil filter until now. Ive only owned my truck for a year and before that it was my brother and before that our grandfather who is the original owner.

Im not the kind of guy who assumes the most expensive is automatically the best. But i dont want the cheapest either. Usually there is a reason.

Anyway im compiling this list of parts to replace. Just things i think could use replacing. Simple stuff. spark plugs, serp belt, wires, pulleys, etc etc

I went with mopar for my filters, Gates for belts and pulleys. But i got to my o2 sensors and didn't know what brand to go with. Same with plug wires

Some assistance would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully this thread can be of some use to others as new to this as i am.

Denso or NTK for o2 sensors. Check the FAQ/DIY section for a lot of info on other brands along with opinions.

Well, this is just my opinion, but stay away from Dorman. They suck so horribly. I returned 4 master cylinders in a row because the reservoir grommets were really loose and leaking.

I've seen either one being good. I went with NTK cuz every part store I called had Denso's at twice the price. The NTK was $25-$30 and Denso was $60-$70.

Also I got a gates belt and it wouldn't stop squealing. Then got a dayco with no problems. As for wires it's really up to you. I would stay away from the cheapest wires parts stores have. I got some from Napa with a lifetime warranty. If you want performance wires get spiral core. I've got Taylor thundervolt wires on my trans am and msd super conductors on the Monte.

For the wires, cap, and rotor I'm just got Summit Racings tune-up kit.

Standard Motor Products make good ignition parts and sensors, ie , IAC, TPS etc..

I use the wires too, and never did the TSB on either one of my trucks, and never had any problems. And the caps have brass inserts.
