Welp have noticed some odd shifting the last couple of days and found the reason why:




Way back in the summer I drove through some ruts at the river and bottomed out on the pan, installed new filter and pan gasket, torqued it back to 13ftlbs, guess I got it too tight.

Anyone know of a good place to get a replacement? I wouldn't want something too deep, just stock depth or close to it.

 

Fixing to get another gasket and fluid and to this again, and hopefully not for a long time.......................

Hopefully I didn't get any river water in the pan.

 

Just use a hammer, and a flat something or other to beat it back into shape. No real need to replace it.

 

At least you didnt break the bolt head off like i did lol. Shouldnt be too hard to flatten it out and maybe even get new bolts.

 

I believe 13 ft/lbs is too low. IIRC it was 14-17ft/lbs.


edit, maybe that was my mag hytec pan, check with the fsm first. Either way, it isn't going to seal if it's warped.

 

13 is right for the stock pan. I'd get a gasket from the dealer and install a drain plug.

 

I double checked the FSM, pan bolts are 13ft lbs. Will be doing another service tomorrow, new filter and fluid and new pan gasket. Will use *appropriate force* to take out frustration, I mean bend any warped spots back to shape.

 

That pan looks like junk to me.
