If the black Ram was for sale in my area when I went truck shopping I probably would have looked past the miles and bought that sucker.

Yeah, even with the high mileage, the black truck is pretty flippin' nice. Plus, its an Off Road Edition......

That black one does look clean but statements like this "20mpg on freeway" leave me questioning the owners ability to be honest.

That was down hill, with a tail wind, for all of about 22 seconds.

I've seen some post's on here with people claiming to get good mileage on the interstate, 20mpg might be an overstatement or merely a guess.

Either way, no one's buying this truck for gas mileage.... At least I'd hope not.

P.S. I've never calculated my MPG's on the interstate but she did damn good with the old 16" wheels. Going to Virginia this coming weekend, we'll see how she does....once I get TO the interstate

Well I looked at an 01 in Wheatland, JUNK and wanted $3800

I looked at the Black 01 and it is pretty nice.
Pros:
Motor runs good and engine bay is very clean.
Detroit E-Locker in the rear, so he says
Leather interior, 8 out of 10
Deep dish trans pan
Huge factory Trans cooler.

Cons:
Tires are toast
Clear coat is failing on the top
Dash top is toast, has aftermarket cover with a glued on dash mat.
Glove box hing is broke at dash, not the glove box.

Unsures:
High milage, 180,000
Shifts fine normal driving, not sure about under pressure, didn't seem as firm.
Says it smogs perfect, but when asked for the smogg printout, he has not smogged it since he bought it two years ago and did not have the old printout.
He has rattle canned the frame, axles and fender wells around the tires.
Says he had the Trans solinoids replaced and the valve body rebuilt, says he has receipts, but did not have them to show me.

Sounds like it could be more trouble then it's worth. It could be one of those if you buy it you'll have nothing but trouble and if you don't buy it and someone else does it'll be the greatest thing they've ever drove....

I'd keep looking, could find a solid deal just around the corner....

Great to hear you were so happy with your '94 that you're staying in the fold on the next truck...

Yep, really liked the 94, but need an Extra Cab.
Also want 98 -01 for the rear doors, OBD-2 and the ability to add computor upgrades.

I have desided against the Black 01, mian reason is the mileage and I just don't trust the guy's honesty.

I'm considering an 01 with 139,000 miles and 2 year old HD built trans.
Also considering that 98 with 122,000 miles.

Yeah 20 mpg smells a bit fishy to me too...

And the detroit e-locker is just a factory lsd, which are known to implode and send shrapnel throughout the rear-end!

But theres nothing wrong with a rattle can under-coating! Lol hell that was one of the first "mods" I did to my truck!
