ALL of the aluminum head, later motors from ford are subject to this particular little bit of fun.

First time I wrote an estimate on doing a 'tune up' on one, I looked at the labor time guide, and just about fainted when I saw 3.5 hours JUST for the spark plugs on a V-8..... WTF?????

Just gives us guys a good excuse for getting out of the house away from the women all day!!

I've got no personal experience doing spark plug changes on Hemi's but I've heard they're a bitch to change the plugs on too.

Yeah, first, they bury them deep into the engine, and if that isn't enough, there are TWO for each cylinder....... Oh gee.....

Think I will snag the v10 if he doesnt keep it(71yrs old... scary driver). gets about the same maybe a little better gas mileage and has less miles... Just had plugs done at 105k. Seems like a decent truck.

I have a 99 f350 v10

Its been way more reliable then my 99 ram 2500.

The spark plug will blow at some point and it takes a $300 kit to replace and re-thread it. If you ever need the kit msg me here I have it.

Our v10 has 250000 miles on the original motor and have only done a oil pan gasket to it. The transmission did go out at about 150000 miles.

Overall the f350 is much more advanced and has alot more wires and what not under the hood ( COP instead of rotor and so on ).

The 5.4's are trash! My uncle blew up 3 different motors in 2 different f150's. One of them was a 99 with 115k miles and the other was a 03 with 150k on the first engine and 55k on the second.

Thats when my whole family went mopar!

My uncle has a 2000ish F-250 V10. He is closing in on 300k miles on original engine and trans. He hasn't had any major issues with it, seems to be a pretty solid truck.

I say go for it.
