Hmmm. It means we remember:
- When television was black and white
- The first time we saw a push-button phone
- When "Made In Japan" meant the same as "Made In China" does today
- When the US did not trade with "Red China"
- A time when no man had ever walked on the moon
- Coffee percolators and "perk grind" on coffee cans
- When only restaurants had microwave ovens
- When no two rock bands sounded similar
- The draft and casualty counts on the front page of the morning paper
- Nixon when he wasn't a hero
- That without Nixon "normalizing relations" we still wouldn't be trading with China
- Streaking!
- Laugh-In
- Gas wars and free gifts with every fill-up
- When gay meant happy
- No VCR's
- Quadraphonic sound (for what, two years?)
- Real hippies
- New John Wayne movies
- Sister Mary Elephant
- The Soviet Union and Berlin Wall
- Paraquat
- Watergate
- Drive-in theaters and lots of 'em
- Alcohol and tobacco ads on television
- Johnny Carson
- Hinckley missed but Chapman didn't

One thing to add to UU's list is when TV only had 3 channels and had twist dials to change the channel. Remember when remotes first came out...dang we could actual sit on the couch and change the channel. My sister and I thought that was the bomb!

I laughed my *** off when I saw this post and UU's reply. Hadn't thought about Charlie Rats for YEARS. Thanks for the blast from the past.

I always keep my tool box (crescent that fits under the seat), straps, plug kit, portable pump, the old serpentine belt, jack and a blanket (keeps the speaker/amp outta sight and doubles as warmth if I break down) in the truck .
The only thing I would add for a 900 mile trip would be a few bottles of oil, a couple bottles of transmission fluid, a can of the right stuff gasket maker, a couple bottles of coolant and my full size spare (and a chain + pad locks to secure it to the front tie down points).
I would check all the fluids and tire pressure then fill up the tank and go.
