Default good people

i just thought id share what happened to me yesterday. i was driving home from picking up a jerry can for my trip when i came across a gentleman stalled out in the middle of an intersection. well of course me being the good samaratin that i am i stopped and offerd to pull him out of the street. he then said that he only lived a couple of blocks away. well once i got him to his house he kept trying to offer me a $5 for helping him. i tried telling him that it was ok, and i didnt need it. that good karma(and all that good stuff lol) was all that i wanted. once i got the chain unhooked and hopped in my truck to leave i noticed there was a $5 sitting in my seat that was deffeniatly not there before.

moral of the story is, its good to know that there are still people out there that show apriciation for good samaratins, instead of bitchin us out for just trying to help.

yall post up your similar stories

of all the bad press Arabs get, they are very good at this.. it has to do with their culture and where they came from- and that basically states: if you're going to survive, you gotta help others even when it puts you at risk.. it's an honor thing with them..

I was four wheeling in the inland sea of Qatar- loaded up the four wheeler in the pick up, and was driving out.. it was dark as can be.. i chose a bad line through the sand, and went straight into the powder- and instantly was bumper deep and basically high centered.. I determined the four wheeler would/could pull me out- and I admit it was desperate..

i was several miles from the highway.. but, i could see it plainly..

one of the dudes with me saw several vehicles coming down the road, and flashed the headlamps on the truck- they deviated course, and stopped just shy of the sand.. got out- and I could see them in the lights- four vehicles, and about a dozen young Arabs.. Shizen, I think, and press checked my sidearm..

they effed with the tires and loaded up in the lead land cruiser, (all of those rascals drive land cruisers), and headed toward me.. not a word was spoken.. they pulled nose to nose, got out, pulled the cable free of the winch, hooked up to the tow hooks on the front of my pick up, and started tugging.. pulled me to the hard(er) pack, and cut me loose.. turned around, and followed me out.. we got to the road, and I went to thank them- and offer a couple hundred riyal, and the dude with me stopped me.. (he was Indian, not Arab) he said "if you offer them money, you will offend them terribly".. so I didn't.. And they were gracious to my thanks- almost as if I was embarrassing them..

those dudes are alright so far as I'm concerned.. I wish people could get a chance to meet and know them and their culture before passing judgment our government manipulates us into..

Just be careful. There are a lot of people that will sue in a heartbeat as soon as you unhook, saying you caused the rusted dent in their car. Thats the main thing that makes me hesitent on pulling someone. I dont need their BS.

On another note, there are still good people out there. Its just getting harder to find them.

Right on, brother, right on.

Most folks are pretty decent, no matter where you go on this wet rock that is our only home. When someone in a position of power and authority tries to convince you that some other folks are your enemies and threats to world peace or your way of life, it's that son of a bitch who's the real threat. He sees money to be made and he's willing to sacrifice your children and your money and your safety to get it.

Was driving to work one day, when I REALLY should have stayed home. At the time, I had my 83 Trans Am..... and we had gotten a foot of snow overnight... but, dedicated dipstick that I am, I was driving to work 35 miles on backroads anyway.... Cruising up ridge road, (which, in the summer months, is a BLAST in the trans am.....) I saw a plymouth horizon upside down on the side of the road.... it was still snowing, colder than a witches tit in a brass bra.... and even the tracks where the car had gone off the road were gone...... I pulled off the road as far as I dared... (TA wasn't the best in snow....) and walked back to the plymouth, and rapped on a window... A woman was still stuck in the car, hanging upside down by her seatbelt.. She couldn't release the belt, and the doors just weren't gonna open.... I ended up smashing out a rear window, crawling into her car, and getting her out of the belt... I kicked open the passenger door, and helped her out of the car.... and took her up to the house that was about 20 yards away. (it was dark and early in the morning, they hadn't even gotten up yet....) Once she was inside where it was warm, I left, and made my way to work. (normally a 45 minute drive, took me 2.5 hours.... yeah, I am that dumb.) Once I got to work, the service manager started looking at me funny.... and finally asked how I got lipstick all over my shirt, and my face.... Seems the lady, in her gratitude for being hauled out of her car, left me some souvenirs. She had been there for the better part of an hour, so, yeah, she was QUITE happy to see me.

Sinclair Lewis stated it best in 1939 in It Can't Happen Here . It is a satirical novel about Facism coming to America, wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

Just for historical perspective - Does anyone know why the Iranians hate us?

The answer: As we trot around the world professing the glory of democracy, our hypocrisy is showing. In 1953, the US (CIA) and Great Britain got together to overthrow Prime Minister Mosaddegh Mohammad, and install the Shah of Iran as ruler. The reason – The US and Britain wanted the Iranian oil. Although Eisenhower was against this coup d'état initially, the CIA wonout. The Shah of Iran, being a puppet, was more than happy to sell out his country for personal wealth.

So we tout democracy, overthrow a very popular democratically elected government of another sovereign nation, exploit their oil so big oil gets richer, and then make them look like the bad guy! And the side benefit – the military industrial complex gets bigger!

I bet most of you thought it had to do with the Iranians taking 52 US citizens hostage in 1979! Now you have a better understanding about “why.”

Left alone, most people and most cultures can be civil to one another.

And I would not be happy with any country that would launch and attack and land troops here to take over our country.

^concur most heartily with drew, UU, and gdstock.

My most recent help move was on my MC coming home. Left hand turn lane into my area. Big Suburban pulled in b/t the left turn lane and the straight lane, one of those ghost areas. I pulled up to ask if she was ok....just as i'm getting an answer, the car behind me honks. I'm like "wtf?!?!? are you blind?" So I pull through so the punk could flip the beeeotch at the light and I go pull over.

Parked it and walked back over. She was dead in the water there with her 12 yr old boy or some such. A friend of hers was walking up the street (lady), so I was like...ok lets push this out when the light turns again; your friend stop traffic just in case.

Friggin' thing was heavy!! I told the kid to bust ****!! Hope he passes it forward.
