Default Ladies and gentlemen...

SHE LIVES! My truck is operational, I installed the nv3500 transmission with a friend, I slapped in the drive shaft in three dark tonight, quick fluid change and she drives!

Im having an auto day tomorrow with some buds, so I'll take some pics and list the new problems...or better said, challenges, that I come across in the afternoon....

First, she runs a bit hot. Until today, the reservoir tank for the coolant was empty... I filled it up before cranking it and driving it for the first time today, to the max fill line...checked it after I noticed it was running hot and it appeared empty again...this was right after driving it. does this mean the coolant is just running through everything and will settle back down or should I add more? I parked it on level ground and will check in the morning. A friend said I had to bleed the air from the system, if thats true, I'm unsure how...thoughts...?

Congrats! Im a lil envious lol havent driven my truck in a week. Bad tranny. Anyways as far as " burping" the cooling system park the truck with the front ebd on a curb so its higher. Remove rad cap and let run a couple minutes

get the pass side fornt of truck(where cap of rad is) high as you can(i parked on a monster hill.. and hand my truck flexed out) these trucks are a pain in the *** to burp. let it run for a bit and add flood as needed. once up to op temp for a few mind(tstat oopen) go for a short drive let cool and repeat. Drive for a few days keeping an eye on level. Should be good to go. If you haven't now is a good time to flush the system and toss new fluid in, new tstat in and new cap on.

Try jumping the two terminals on the coolant sensor connector

Picture of the broken crankshaft positioning sensor (top, covered in dirt) and new replacement (silver bracket, clean...) ... looks like someone was smart and decided to reinforce the bracket.. which is where it broke on mine...

Location of the sensor... at the rear of the engine (318), above the bell housing of the transmission (nv3500), to the passenger side...

I don't know why they put it in such a difficult place... I have all the room in the world to the front of my passenger side in the engine compartment... I feel like there should be something there... ah well...

New problem I found while driving the truck is that my oil pressure gauge will drop to 0 for no reason while driving, I believe it has only happened while in higher gears, around 4-5th? Also, my oil light on the dash comes on sometimes after shifting...? Ah to be a novice...
