Default Washing the Engine ? Do/Don'ts ?

So I did a little Muddin' and my engine bay got completely covered in
Soupy Mud
So is there anything special on the Ram to watch out for, as far as not to get wet.
Anything that should be hand dried or dried with the air compressor ?

Take some Wal-Mart plastic bags and cover air filter and alternator. Don't hit with power washer. Just a jet stream nozzle through water hose. I've heard to spray WD-40 on plug wires, cap/rotor, etc. I guess it repels the water. Degreaser in some of the oily spots, and a scrubber for the tough areas.

And the 40 is how many tries it took to get it right. I can be a wealth of useless knowledge at times

I don't think I've cleaned my engine bay since I fixed the plenum two years ago.
