I used to carry most of that in my old Jeep (yes a Jeep cj was my recovery vehicle) light enough to get anywhere, and study enough to use see a bar for dang near any situation.

On item that I have found useful is carry a set of tailor ramps with grateing on one side and nice wide diamond plate on the other. They don't sink into the mud very much and they provide a high traction surface. They are great if your stuck somewhere in the mud and can't use a winch.

length of 3/8" chain with hooks
about eight various size shackles

a MAPP gas welding setup for in-field fixes
tools out the a$$
a couple D cell MagLites
a rechargeable flood light

tire patch kit
D cell MagLite
rechargeable flood light

ATV:

Well since it don't take much to get a 2wd stuck or unstuck I got nothing compared to y'all.

25 foot 30k strap with loops
3 sections of chain smallest about 7' and biggest around 15'
Moving blanket(works great to put in the center of a strap)
Clean water
Plenty of gloves
Rubber boots
Plenty of flashlights
Duck tape
Ratcheting tie down

All this in my toolbox and everything has been used at least once

How the hell does all that stuff fit in to the truck? haha! I imagine that would take up the whole bed plus some area in the cab!
