Default I'm going on an age rant!!

Ok I'm 19, I go to college full time plus for 30-40 hours a week to be able to pay for school and gas. I get so sick of being looked down on because of my "generation" not all of us are lazy. I don't even own any video games! I have a 2001 pickup that I've bought and paid for myself. During the summer I work construction 50 or so hours a week. Plus I live on a farm so there is chores all the time... In my free time I'm usually hauling wood. I've been helping dad with chores and wood hauling since I could walk. But everywhere I go I get treated like I'm a thief or some junky. I get so sick of it! I'm hard working and honest as the day is long but I get judged all the time... It's so sickening. This isn't probably the place to do this because from what I've seen you guys are really good at helping out my generation. I'm just feeling like work ethic is a dying trait and everybody sits back until its done for them! Honestly what I'm looking for is some kids around my age like me just to give me a little confidence that we aren't all screwed in the long run!! Thanks for reading guys! haha

I'm 17 and i know exactly where your coming from....I agree 100%....I am not totally lazy....yeah sure i have video games...sure I play them a lot when i have the time to do so but I still got other things to do......I'm 17 and I have already had a full job for 3 years when everyone else I know doesn't have a job, and get EVERYTHING handed to them!!! Now I am out of a job now because the store I worked at closed down....and I am trying really hard to find a new job. It's not going that great but sometimes that's just how things go. I know a friend that got a $60,000 car for her birthday and she got it handed to her in front of EVERYONE at school and she literally ran up to her mom and dad and screamed "THIS ISNT WHAT I WANTED YOU RUINED MY LIFE!!!"...I was so pissed when I heard her say that....i really just wanted to slap some sense, respect, manners and many of things into her!

I'm 29 (almost 30 ) and it seems to me that a whole lot of people about 10 years younger are like that. We have a lot of guys in their early 20's working here and they just seem in general to have a different attitude than the guys my age and older. They give the impression that everybody owes them something and act like they have a chip on their shoulder. Aggravates the hell out of me. Anything I have ever had I worked for. When I was a probie I was always the first to do anything and make sure everything was done. Now these probies will sit here and watch me do work and not even get up or ask to help. They're more concerned with playing with their phone or whatever. I know it's bad to stereotype but that's what a lot of people do. It's unfortunate to people like you who are hard workers but for every one of you it seems like there are many more who are the opposite.

Welcome to the new age...... where no one is responsible for their own actions, and folks seem to think that everyone owes them. Kinda sad really.

Not everyone is like that though, there are indeed some shining examples out there of folks that actually have morals, and a work ethic. I find it refreshing personally.

I try not to judge anyone by their age, color of their skin, religion, political orientation, etc. It's how you act, and present yourself that determines how I treat you. There are some GREAT people out there in the world, and I rather enjoy finding them.

I go to work, school, payed for pretty much all of my truck, pay most of the gas and will soon end up paying for most if not all of the insurance on my truck.
If I need something, I buy it. If I don't have the money, I don't buy it or I save. If I break something, I fix it.
I have literally no spare time between working and homework. Sooo, I am in the same boat when I see these kids just doing nothing or being miscreants just little pissants.
I've been working since I was 12, I have also had people think I was 18 since I was 12 too, because of my behavior.

I HATE this current generation, honestly, it is the government's fault wanting to "help" everyone and everything. And I am not going to get into why, as most on here already know about all that.

You should have "paid" to go to a better school.

Other than that, youth is wasted on the young.

I hate the current generation (that I am a part of) as well. Before I came into the Air Force at 18 years old, I had held one job for 4.5 years, and had another (a second at the same time) for a few months before I left. Kids are freakin lazy. I refer to anyone who is a lazy turd and less than about 30 as a kid. I don't talk a whole lot, only when there is something to say, and I conduct myself in a pleasent and trustworthy way, which has done wonder's for how the people around me look at me. I just turned 20 3 weeks ago, so I know where you are. I talk to everyone at eye level, with respect and a sense of humor, and if they don't give me the same respect in return they are not worth my time. Keep your head up, don't let others get you down, continue to live a respectable life, showing your work ethic, and you will never regret it.

I think this thread proves it, kids these days are a bunch of whinny, self entitled, PAK, unless they drive a 2nd gen Ram Lol, seriously though, there are alotta good kids our age (early 20's, late teens) however there are a good number of them out there that give this generation a bad wrap. I'm currently am 22 and also haven't had a free ride to college or anything else, I was blessed to grow up on a farm and to have parents that taught me good work ethic and morals. There's alotta kids out there that get everything handed to them, and I think that's were much of the problem is
