Motor swap project started
Transmission sat outside uncovered for a undisclosed amount of time. Im hoping thats all that is wrong with it. It has been driven yet so hopefully no damage has been done.
Got trans lines hook up, driveshaft in, radiator hoses installed, mounts bolted down, and its running ok. It just wont idle. Im gonna try cleaning the iac.

Yah im hoping I got lucky. If not then ill eat up all my potential profit putting a another trans in. I know it was working fine when it was pulled cause I drove it and pulled it myself. But then my buddy decided to let it sit for 2 yrs.
I finally found a new throttle cable and installed it, it was a breeze after i figured out the right method and tools to remove it. The throttle works great now but i still have my idling issue. Only now it does not seem to idle at all. I put the other used tps i had in it and no difference.
I did however finally get to drive it home. After a transmission fluid change and new filter the transmission seemed to operate flawlessly!!! But the motor seems to be a turd. Im leaning towards a clogged cat, blown head gasket, or cracked head. It will build pressure in the cooling system in 30 sec or less. It wont get up over 35 mph on flat ground and when it gets anywhere near 2500 rpm and it starts bogging down and popping then stalls unless i throw it back into nuetral and give it some gas to keep the idle up around 1000 rpm. Then i could throw it back down into gear and accelerate for another 30 sec or so and then do it all again. I did this the eight mile journey home with it. had to restart it 8 times and the last time i tried to restart it the starter started smoking really bad. I think that ontop of whatever else it wrong with this motor that i have now fried the starter from so many long starts today, and i will have to buy another starter and battery. the battery i got now is crap, it will take a charge but wont hold it, well it was up untill now. Now i cant even jump it off. I got a offer for $1200 earlier and i am thinking about taking it.
This truck has turned out to be a real turd. Ive had 2 other Rams and they have always been so easy and dependable. I dont think I have ever had to throw parts at a vehicle like i have this one, and my wallet is not liking it lol. I also picked up a Thrush Welded muffler for my 01 2500 yesterday that i did not have time to install due to working on this truck all day.

Not up to that yet. Drove it a few miles and the temp started getting high, I think i may have some air in the cooling system still. I will have to burp it some more tomorrow and maybe pressure test it. It did seem to have a miss though, but it is running on some mighty yellow gas. I need to get some fresh gas in it before i start jumping to any conclusions.
I cut the exhaust off the other day to rule out a cloged exhaust. Its got true duals all the way back with no cat and then into y that is welded right to the flowmaster into a single out. Pretty lame if you ask me. but i cut it off right before the muffler after the y and its loud and raspy as hell. Gotta get the muffler back on though so i guess that crap is going back on.
