Default Fix or buy something newer?

So I was trying to figure out my ticking noise and changed the oil to regular 5w 30 and put the lucus oil sub. in it I've drove bout 50 miles now and nothing has changed. To kick the boot im using about a full overflow tank of antifreeze a day and that is burning not leaking. I really dont know what to do anyone know how long or how much it would take to get new heads? ive got 169xxx on my truck and in the 40xxx I've owned it more then half is towing.

You can get a pair of better-than-stock heads for right around 500 bucks on ebay. (don't bother with reman, you want NEW castings.) Odessa, or Clearwater sells 'em. (and they are the same company.)

No power gain, but other things would need to be done for that. And if this is where the water is going, it will fix it.

As long as the bottom end is good I would get new heads. If you want an increase in power it's not too much more work to put in a new cam .

If your happy with the truck then go ahead and fix it, especially if it's paid for. Something newer isn't always better.

Head and cam swap can be done on a saturday with a 12 pack. Just make sure you have everything you need before cracking it open.

That will probably take more than a Satuday and a 12 pack....
