I'm a little unsure if the thermostat is good or not. It doesn't leak water like say a radiator leak when under pressure, it will leak only after a certain point or temperature (have no idea which) and it just barley seeps out the side, if I didn't see it when I did I wouldn't even know it was leaking.

But that does explain why it's lose's coolant over time.

I plan to be forthcoming with detail's as they will notice it's not quite right on the test drive, just looking for a deal on the down payment toward's something. The car is paid off so they wouldn't have to pay that off too.

I worked for a Buick, GMC, Pontiac dealer in Falgstaff several years ago (working sabbatical after working for state government agency for a couple years).

The car is 10 years old. They are only going to give you book price at best on trade, and then wholesale it to a tote-the-note (or stop and rob as I prefer to call them) lot. Giving them any more info than they gather on the test drive only serves to hurt what you get on the trade.

It is not being dishonest – they are the experts after all. If they sell something used, they definitely will not tell you about any defect they know the vehicle has.

All I am saying is do not shoot yourself in the foot. They will still come out. The amount they show as trade is part of the puffed price of the vehicle you would be buying. They are covered and won’t loose on the deal. Kind of like casinos – the house always wins!

Update:

This Buick is no more, traded it in for a 1998 Dodge Caravan. We originally went to look at Chevy Tahoe but it was a little much on the down payment. The van was $1k down and we got $900 for trade on the car, $100 cash today. Not bad.

It runs and drive's great, fluids look good, and it's got plenty of pop for a van.

One way to solve a problem... fix it by replacing EVERY part.

Yup, that works too, so we decided to replace the whole car!
