Today was a surprise. Went to lunch and to talk with a shop for ideas on a clunk I've been having in the rear. I park it and look from inside and see....wtf is the running puddle on driver's side? ^smiley6

The original radiator finally let go on the side. Great timing.

Damn I hate those plastic tanks on radiators. Back when the Jeep had the stock engine still in it I was headed to work one morning and blew the seam just like that. Had to take the day off work and borrow a buddies rig to run into town and get a new ALL METAL radiator. So I know the feeling real good.

I don't know what High Angle Driveline quoted you but when I got my drivelines made they were $500 each. Yep I have a $1,000 in drive shafts under my Jeep. Those 1350 CV joint shafts ain't cheap.

It was related to the Bear Hit and/or the need to be dragged a few times with a strap. I got slammed a couple times with bad angles.

I used the HAM radio and had a new box delivered in ~4hrs. Swapped out and was off trail by 7pm and back to camp for a late dinner.

While waiting, the Wheelers for the Wounded of NV stopped to give me crap, some beverage, and an opportunity to thank the bad azz service wo/men. Korean Vet and WW2 Vet were quite special.

Drove home fine with a reman box from NAPA. lol

Only things don't get broken are things that don't get used eh?

I would not be comfortable running that temp for any period of time. You're joking right about it taking it like a champ?

When the top hose came off my radiator, I didn't get that hot... I also had the temp warning light come on.

Word.

No joke. No temp light no blow up no smoke. It was a short duration, maybe 10 min or so. Cooled back down after the top. I wasn't pushing it. Held about 30 mph or so.

Hmm. Feel like it should cool a little better than that. But it's about 120 degrees Fahrenheit outside temp right? Haha

I don't think you've experienced almost 10% grade have you?

Maybe not for 10 sustained minutes. Everything this way is up the hill then back down. Repeat over and over.

I did take a full of load crusher run up to my grandma in the boonies. That had some very steep climbs.

So maybe not

If you're not on stock heads, I guess it's not as critical if the temp runs high.

I'm still on stock heads...165K and going. Both of you could better qualify your concerns (e.g., grade %, time, etc.) Otherwise just conjecture and perception. I'm certainly not advocating someone run for a long time at the temp. I'm only sharing what, from my setup, what was running.

New OEM radiator replaced and cap less than a week ago. Used 50/50 premix coolant. Dual TCP efans. My radiator has the tranny line cooler too. Tstat is the stock rating of 195F.

Last month on that grade I was not loaded as much and the max temp reached was ~220F.
