First, let me say those snow pics are beautiful. I've never driven in that type of terrain, and can only imagine how difficult it could be not knowing what you are driving over.
Thank you so much for the tips.
I have a detroit trutrac in the rear, and I've been contimplating a front locker or not, as I pretty much daily drive this truck also (maybe 3-4 times a week). I'm worried about binding on the street with a front locker.
I'm actually having a bunch of things done this week. I had the bed pulled for some major modifications. The axle should be moved closer to the front by the time I'm out of work today. Basically the wheels will be right behind the rear of the cab. I mentioned the rear shackle flip, and they said they can do it. They are also going to see if they can change the angle of my axle. My gas tank is going to be moved up higher, so it wont be in danger of rocks.
After that competition, I ordered a cooler for my steering pump, thinking that would help. However, i had broken a few things on my front. My dual stabilizer bars were banged up, causing my steering to bind. So I just pulled those out. Also, the solid steel steering box stabilizer hit a rock and survived, but the cast casing holding the bearing shattered.
It's a big learning curve for me, so I appreciate all the advice.

Daily driving it, you'll feel that heavy walled driveshaft. But they may not be the case since moving the rear axle forward so much, plus rotating the pinion up to point at the tcase.
Gas tank would no longer be an issue with that axle moved. Won't hurt shifting the tank up though.
Curious how the leaf springs will work with that much axle movement forward. With that much effort, I'd go straight linking the rear. Gas tank is what prohibits link suspension setup for the rear.
Adding a locker to the front D44 with how you're competing will be painful on all the steering components. The reduced weight in back will help relieve some of it.
Don't need the stabilizers for what you're doing either.
Get some action!!
