Alright guys, it's getting closer to move time, and I've got a dilemma, which truck should I get, 20' U Haul or 24' Budget Diesel

The U Haul is local, $521 + 100 deposit, for 3 or 4 days, and limited miles, I think about 411, the route I'm taking is 462 miles plus taking it to the local u haul place up there.

24' Diesel is a bit too big, but is $504.90 for 4 days and unlimited miles (not sure about deposit) but the nearest Budget Truck rental is a 90 minute drive from here, local return in Va is about a 30 minute ride, no biggie.

My other brother in law and his family recently moved from Ga to Florida, about the same length trip as the drive to Virginia and rented the largest U Haul plus the car carrier for her Z71 Pickup, and they said it did great and had no issue's with U Haul.

Due to work circumstances (even if we did stay in Ga) we turned the van into the car lot, we just can't afford the extra debt since I'm unsure about a job. Didn't really loose any on the deal, without it I wouldn't have gotten to work the last 6 weeks, thanks to it's good MPG's, so we don't have to pull a vehicle, the wifey will drive the Ram (God help us) Avoid central Georgia and I77 this weekend

Anyways, just unsure what to get, I stopped and looked at a 20' U Haul in town, it looks plenty large enough plus it's low to the ground, which is a plus on the hilly terrain.

But the Budget is a few dollar's cheaper and unlimited mileage, and while diesel is more expensive then gas I wonder how the diesel would compete against the Ford U Haul on fuel economy.

What would ya'll get?

Check the cost of "additional miles" over the allowance. his can sometimes be excessive. And the Fords they use have NEVER been close to decent on mileage. the diesel may be better in that regard.

The Budget dealer is out of rental's until Saturday, and now the U Haul website is saying the rate is 3 days and 511 miles.

That's gunna be cuttin' it mighty tight.....

If you think you can fit everything in the 20' truck..... go for it. I don't think fuel economy is going to be that much different between gas, and diesel.... given the cost difference, it's prolly a wash.

Got a quarter? Heads: U-Haul, Tails: Budget.
