Stubborn connector is giving me a reason to take up drinking.
Boring rant ahead............
Trying to add cab lights is going to give me a stroke.
So my truck is one of the mid year 01's with some of the options unavailable when built, talked about in another thread. I don't have running lights or lighted vanity mirrors, but the truck has pretty much everything else.
I believe 3/4 ton and up trucks should have running lights. It's like a hot dog with no bun. It's just not right. I also wanted to add lighted vanity mirrors just because my buddies 04 has them and he reminds me at every opportunity. I also wanted to try and install everything using factory parts so it would be plug and play for the most part, rather than cutting and splicing wires.
I patiently watched both craigslist and ebay and found a set of running lights with the factory harness for 99-01 trucks. The harness is complete, including connections for trip computer/compass in the overhead console, the security LED, auto dimming mirror, vanity lights in the visors, and running lights. Should be easy right?
This the part where my BP skyrockets and I'm inventing new swear words. I can't get the freakin' connector under the dash to let go. There is a big plastic piece tucked up under the dash behind the fuse panel area where most of the factory harnesses plug into for what ever reason. I can not get that brown connector out.
It's very hard to reach up in there. I have to lay on my back with my head against the transfer case shifter, hold a flashlight in my teeth and can only reach it with one hand. I'm using a small short screwdriver to try and press the connector tang down with 2 fingers while trying to gently pull on the wires with 2 other fingers. It ain't budging. I've been trying for 2 weeks.
So far the drinking hasn't helped either.
