Default My 2001 Ram work in progress - check it out

My last (2) months or so, I have been busy putting the following on my '01 ram'

Craislist 18" Eagle rims & 35" Nitto grapplers ($700), used delta split box ($20), cast aluminum steps off my old '96 ram gritblasted to like new ($0), Bushwacker flares (~$500), FlowMaster SUV 50 ($250), Craigslist newly painted Lund visor ($80), Rough Country 3" suspension lift w/ dual steering stabilizer, boots, and nitro shocks ($630). & a whole lot of aches & pain but worth it.

My to do list includes, 4:56 gears, diff cover, 1/2 mirror tint windows, amp & additional speakers, replace (2) of the more worn grapplers, mod my old extang j-lock tonuea cover (shorten) to line up w/ toolbox, eagle eye headlights, and more.

Check out my pics & if you have any suggestions for my future mods / additions, let me know. Thanks

Truck looks really good. It looks pretty tall for a 3 inch lift. Mine is 3 inch as well and your truck seems taller to me. I don't have any mod suggestions for you, but I can guarantee 4.56 gears will be your best performance mod so far.

Looks good. If you wanna be like me, throw on some tow mirrors from ebay and paint the front bumper black with some spray paint

those dont look like 35's, look more like 33's when i first put my diesel coils in i put 35's on my truck. diesel coils give you 2.5-3" of lift up front, and i had alot less room between the tire and the fender than you do.

also....fix your plenum, replace your more than likely clogged cat, and replace both o2 sensors. while youre in that far on the motor.... replace the water pump, and timing chain. replace the t-chain with a double roller.

oh, and here is my truck with diesel coil springs and 35's.... you either have 33's, or you have more than 3 inches of lift... are the tires a metric size, or a sae size. which are they and what's the numbers on the side of the tire?

also, if those are indeed 35's get the gears done ASAP or you will be replacing your tansmission in about 1-2 weeks.... ask me how i know hahaha....

Default Carme is a bitch

An hour after my post, I got pulled into a guardrail while passin a sleeper and surprise! a left side pond under a bridge. Got frint bumper 1/2 over the rail & it took 4whl low to back off. Unfortunatelly the tie rod adjuster tube spilt and I lost my steering & brake line snapped. Got it back on the road this morning after some serious wrenching.

1. Any suggestions for a front end alighnment? Goodyear said no w/ lift kit.

2. Looking at HD replacement bumpers too. Any suggestions?
I like this one but is pricey plus I already bought a grill guard off craigslist for $100 but hadn't had time to re-paint & install, figures right?;

3. Does anyone got a comparision between & recommends a particular 4:56 gear set supplier?

Thanks for the comments though. On the lift, yes is just a RC 3" kit. The tires are mostly worn out on the front but all are 35x12.5 R18's that measure closer to 34+ now. I've had it put together for about a month now w/ no signs of tranny weakness. (hesitated putting that on w/ my luck, lol)

Wow, that's quite the unlucky event, sorry to hear.

1. align it yourself? I think there's a thread or two about alignments on here.

2. dodge off road has some nice road rhino bumpers. They're around $1200-1500 depending on if you want 'em powdercoated or not. But if you can weld the bumper together yourself, they'll send you it for $300 bucks less.

3. Yukon gears seem to be the most recommended.

depending on your budget look into www.buckstop.biz I've got the rear bumper and love it, +1 on the exhaust upgrade though to, get more power and better MPG.
