WTF?!

Didn't set off my alarm, either. It wasn't even that nice of one! The paint all across the top was scraped up and the top was dented in several spots too!

Grrrrrr.......

Just needed to get that off my chest. I've been riding my bike to work for the past few weeks, I guess someone figured I wouldn't see it?

The worst part is, it was there when I left a bit before 8 this morning, so someone took it from my truck in the daylight, right in front of the apartment office/pool.

I hate apartment living.

 

That sucks. But when/if you replace it. There is locks available.

 

They don't just grab them for replacement parts..... scrappers will steal them as well.

 

The very first accessory I added to my truck is one of these. It saved my tailgate within weeks.

If/when you replace the tailgate and go looking for a lock, don't get one that locks the handle. All it takes to defeat one of those is a big screwdriver -- and if you add both kinds, you'll keep your tailgate but find the handle busted all to hell one day.

 

I can't believe someone would steal a tailgate. In BROAD DAYLIGHT nonetheless.

I'll be getting one of those hinge locks. Wish I'd have known about them before. It never occurred to me someone would steal a friggin tailgate.

I filed a police report, apparently when you do that they send them out to the scrap yards. I also called the local scrap yard and have been checking craigslist. Frankly, since nothing else was taken I'm guessing someone had a truck like mine and needed a tailgate.

Now to find a cheap tailgate. :-( I just spent a ton of money on my bike, it may have to wait a while.

 

You can always get a tailgate net until you find something....
Then craigslist....lol

I dont see why people do this kind of crap to other people...sucky news....i had something similar happen when i lived in mass..i had private parking for my apartment. But i woke up one morning hopped in the truck and saw glass everywhere...someone smashed my window...i know theres was force because the pass window was broke but had glass over near the gas pedal...
