Default Looking at buy a Ram Sport

My buddy is wanting to get into the Dodge world and get a Sport. We went and looked at a 1999 1500 Sport w/ a 360, auto, only 75,354 actual miles, nothing internally wrong when we looked at it, just had a wheel alignment, there's only one small scratch on the outside, and the inside driver's seat is torn from a bigger person driving.(Also the tires are about 80%-75% gone, street tires) The dealer wants $7,995 for it. This a pretty good deal?

It has fairly low mileage but, I would not pay $8k for that truck. Anything ya'll find from a car lot will be marked up way too much. Look for something for sale via private dealer, you can get much better deals if you shop around a bit.

I paid $2500 cash for my '01 1500 from a private seller.

I would do those first. Don't be afraid to expand the search area a bit if you don't find something close.

There are some really good deals out there.

Im coming to Texas to get my next truck then. Got mine 2 1/2 years ago with bald tires, poor shocks, rust starting, blown plenum, and 102,000 on the clock. Paid $7000 for it.

And as long as you stay away from Houston and points south...no rust!

8 grand for a 1500 sport

you can get a 2500 sport with a cummins for that!!! maybe a bit more mileage, but high mileage is nothing for a cummins. it'll last 4-5x longer than a v8 gasser will based on a rough 200k lifespan (yes I'm aware v8s can last longer than 200k...but how much longer before a rebuild or major failure?? cummins will go 800-1.5million without a rebuild or major failure).

Yeah, but those diesels stink and belch black smoke.
