That's with the 35's and 4.10's doing 70 or so on the way out and 65 or under on the way back. I did manage almost 14 on a trip to Maine a couple years back.

I wonder if lower gears (higher, numerically) would improve that any..... I have 33's, and 4.56, and I can average 11 around town...... Haven't taken it on a long trip yet.

Morning everyone. Since I've already benefitted from some good advice here, I thought I ought to share my ride. Here's a picture of my '97 Ram 3500 SLT Laramie V10 I picked up last weekend...

I've had to chase a couple of gremlins down since I got it, but so far they've been pretty minor. These things are somewhat to be expected for 20 year old vehicle that had only 69.5K miles on it. I'm quite satisfied with the fuel mileage - 14 mpg average on the first tank. I need to pull a spark plug and see how worn they are as it may be time for some new ones.

That is positively stellar for the V-10. Most folks are barely breaking into double digits.

It helps that, for the most part, I'm pretty laid back and in no hurry to get anywhere. I set the cruise at 55 on the back highways and 65 on the interstate and just enjoy the ride. As much as I love the grunt of the V10, I try not to lean on it too hard when I don't have to. I'll save the leaning for when i'm hooked up to this...

Hit the track the other night. Truck ran extremely well, no issues. But it was a humid 80 degrees, made 11 runs back to back, on aired down 33" Nitto 420s that still spun a lil and sucky reaction times. Best was .444 reaction with 15.92 @ 80mph. Wanted to try a 4x4 launch but it started raining and I left. I'm looking to get a set of 17" Race Stars on some 305 Mikey ET's. I think with those and cutting a good light on a cool night I should do much better.

Not bad numbers considering its a 5500 pound truck... It ain't ever going to be a back street weapon though.

Just an updated photo. Took out the 3in body lift put new rims on with 35s. Also removed the roll bar and sold it to friend

Great lookin' truck. Imho, it looks much better without the body lift.

Let us know how you like those tires. I have the other version of the red letter grabbers with the less aggressive tread pattern.
