transmission linkage

Default transmission linkage

when i put my truck in drive it shows neutral on the indicator, i end up in second alot... how do you fix this ?? thanks,,, remember i am a idiot.. i need deep explanations,, lol

Have you dowloaded the service from the DIY/FAQ section or bought a Haynes ? Could be linkage or a simple adjustment under the steering column.

Probably, but that same adjustment is a lot easier on a 98 and up. Remove the knee panel and adjust the screw. But the OP still needs to make sure it's not the linkage itself.

+1. Make sure linkage is correct, then adjust indicator. Doing the other way would not fix it. If you are beween gears or in the wrong gear, I suspect linkage. Download the referenced manual for instruction. One bolt fix.

where can i down load the manual, im sorry, im legally blind and have a terrible time reading, hate to waste your time too..
