Moving Out To The Boonies-Not Going To Be On For A While
The cell phone thing isnt all that great either. I mean its not bad if you have service, and only do things like dodge forum. But watching a video is hit or miss. Thats my primary internet at the moment. Its also high for so many gigs. I can go through 5-6 gigs VERY fast with mine and my wifes laptop. I had to up mine to 12 gigs a month.
I'm afraid that is the way it will be here, also. But right now it's that or Hughes Net and Hughes Net quoted me $75/month and that seems very expensive for a marginal service.
It's all in how you drive them. Cause we all know nothing that bolts on or gets poured in the tank does much more than drain the wallet. Try driving like me for 1 month. I bet $100 you will be shocked at how much your mileage improves.
I completely concur with "it's all in how you drive". I'm happy with what I get. I can't complain in the fact that I drive a larger truck, running larger tires, added body protection, and other assorted negatives to the aerodynamic brick. Getting 11-12 mpgs for this having said that I think is pretty acceptable. Also I'm not able to do long straight hwy-ish driving. Daily driving about 40 miles/day on surface streets that includes a < 10 min stint on freeway is my gig.
It's good people can see your results and if I recall correctly you are pretty much in stock form?
Bone stock 5.2L/46RE/4x2. And about 90% of my driving is wide open desert 2 lanes. Heck, there are 2 stop lights and no stop signs in the 37 mile stretch I drive most of the time. That's why I've always said, "it is not practical for most folks to drive like me because I'm semi-retired", but if folks would drive 55mph on the highway/freeway and speed up slowly and slow down earlier before stopping, I bet they could get 25% or better fuel mileage doing that alone.

I was paying them $134 a month for 400mb a day, go over that and they slow you to dial-up speed, and reg speed was not that much better. I hope you can find an other isp. Does Hughes make you buy the eq down there? If yes I have all the stuff you need, just pay for the shipping and it's yours.
