Default straight piping the truck

hey yall, planning on having my truck straight piped next week, keeping the cat on. sick of the flowmaster. is there really any difference in sound between running a y pipe after the cat and dualing it from there and just running one pipe after the cat? thanks.

Yes I would think there would be a sound difference running two pipes off the cat. I guess my Q is why straight pipes? You have a good looking truck why make it sound like a $50 winter beater?

Well thanks compliments are always appreciated but I've had the 40 series on for a while now and I'm just looking for something a little louder. I don't wanna deal with gutting the cat and having to play with the 02 sensors. Couple of my buddies have straight piped dodges and they sound nice they don't have the super crackly noise maker sound to them, they just sound mean.

You want louder? How about individual header pipes up through Buick portholes in the hood? I don't think anyone else has done it, you'd be a first.

Everyone likes different things, to each his own and personally I just want the truck to be louder. If you're gonna be a sarcastic ***** go do it somewhere other than an Internet forum you clown

Couple of Q's for you

Is your cat new? is it welded in?

I know you said you did not want to but I would pull the cat and run that 40, I think it will be more to your liking than just straight pipe's and the cat. 02's are ez to deal with, you can get 02 bungs welded into the replacement pipe, or get AEM's no weld 02 bungs. For the rear 02 use a set of spark-plug anti/non fouler's to stop the cel. There should be a how to in the Diy area.

I ran a set of super 44's with no cats it was loud.

I gutted my eastern si/so high flow cat (due to it falling apart after a few months of use...) while running a super 44 and noticed very minimal noise level change. It sounds very obnoxious running a gutted cat and straight pipe. That being said, I'll probably pull my super 44 off for a while to fit in with the kids at college And put it back on once I get annoyed with it.

For me the exhaust is "crackly" with both gutted/non-gutted cat and with/with out muffler. Never had O2 problems with a gutted cat...

Mine crackled with a gutted cat, I just had it removed lol. No more crackling for me.
