Default 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 2WD PO748

It was getting a code PO748 occasionally and going into limp mode. I could clear the code and go several days without it coming on. Then, as time progressed it became more frequent at setting a code. I had checked the terminals on the connector on the side of the transmission for tightness and closed them up some with a pick. Before this though, I had checked the fluid one day and it was a quart low. I added a half quart of Dexron 3 not knowing it took synthetic. I have changed the Pressure Sensor (got off Ebay) and Governor Pressure Solenoid (Borg Warner). I can start off under pretty heavy acceleration up to 60 mph and the check engine light does not come on. Everything works fine. When I start slowing down the light comes on. I can start off easier and when it shifts the light comes on. I can clear code (748), take off, and if heavy acceleration, it does not come back on until I slow down. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, Mike

P0748 Governor Press Sol Ctrl/Trans Relay Circs

Check the connectors/grounds at the PCM as well.

Could it be a pressure issue as it does perfect under pretty heavy acceleration? It only sets code under light acceleration or when slowing down. It doesn't act up (go into limp mode, or set code) under heavy acceleration. Thanks, Mike

It's whining about the control circuits, not the pressure itself. (different code) Might wanna check the trans relay as well. Just pulling it out, pushing it in a couple times should clean up the connections enough.

I checked the relay, even swapped it with another relay. Thanks though

One problem is you have now jacked up the fluid. There is more difference in Dex 3 and ATF+4, and the tranny will not like it.

And I'd bet just dropping the pan once wouldn't get rid of it all either
