So rotting out would not be a problem? I just think anything short of fixing it correctly is foolish. For an emergency to get it home or something - that would be different.
I think I'll go down to the basement and make one with a couple strips of tin riveted together. I'll probably out some gorilla tape on it too so It doesn't run the tank reall bad.
And the stock gas tank straps rot out bad. The front tank strap looks awful but it's still holding, for now
Seems like rotting out was a problem with the metal straps, but nobody discourages using them. Haha.
My thoughts exactly. I've had ratchet straps that were were covered with oil and grease for years and were still as good as new. Under the truck, they are shielded from ultraviolet rays if that's even a concern. Can't imagine what a ratchet strap might do that a metal strap hasn't already done, and they're a damn sight cheaper and easier to replace if the need ever occurs.
