Fair Price for Plenum fix?
I have a guy that I work with that needs his plenum fixed, and he asked if I would do it. I told him I would, but I have no idea what to charge him. I dont want to make him feel like Im trying to rip him, but my time is also valuable. What do you guys think would be fair for a "buddy deal," price, but still not short myself too bad?
is he ordering the parts? maybe $100 if he buys the parts? then he would have less then $250 into getting it fixed and you would still make about $15-$20/h depending on how quick things go. at least he would not have to be paying the $50-$100/h most garages or dealerships charge which would probably work out to about $300-$600 in labor plus taxes.
if you did it for him for free you'd be a damn good buddy.
if you let him use your shop and tools, and you make him do most of the work, and you show him what to do at every step so he doesn't screw up, you'd be an even better damn good buddy and he'd learn something.
