Default 360 swap question

Hey I went to the local junkyard and found an 01' Durango RT w/ a 360. One of the guys at the desk said it would be $400-1,000 depending if the motor runs, mileage, and stuff. Anybody think it's a decent buy? I'm looking to rebuild a 360 in auto class next year and was going to swap it out with my 318.

HELL NO!! Not for a grand. Search Craigslist and other junk yards. I've seen them for 2-300 bucks. Running. I forget the site but someone here found a place to get a rebuilt one for, I want to say around $1200. I can't remember the site for the life of me though. It was a little while ago, maybe a year or so.

Found it!!!!: http://www.precisionengine.com/rebui...ler/index.html

Maybe so. But if it's being rebuilt, what's the difference? The heads should be replaced anyway. We know how they are. Any bore and stroke will be determined at rebuild. Therefore the only thing IMO worth looking at is whether or not the block is any good.

So based on that, I would just find a good core for as cheap as possible and put the money into the rebuild (more parts, better parts, etc.). Hell, might as well go for a 408 stroker.

Have a compression check done on it. Make sure you can be there for it to see the numbers. Dry and wet.

Take pictures!

Merc and I'll will give you a decent evaluation....

I read your whole thread and plan on doing close as I can to your build in my auto class. (class limitations). Next time I have a day off, I'll go back out and see if I can get more info on the motor and some pics.

What's the fun in that? Don't follow lead! He built his motor to suit his needs and his needs might not be the same as your needs and expectations. If you are looking at R/T heads the heads are clearly marked R/T.
