I can't see why it wouldn't, but I'd ask for others input as well.

I know that between 98 and 99 the sway bar end links changed, but not sure what else changed.

I've all the parts sitting in my garage right now, just waiting for some primer to set so I can paint some parts, then I'm onto assembly.

InfO.

nobody cares about 2wd steering

Resurrecting an old thread after doing some searching on this topic. I have a 01 1500 with 3" lift and 35s 170k miles, want to upgrade the factory steering. From what I gather, the T-steering linkage from a 4th gen 2500/3500 will bolt right into my 01 1500? such as the Mopar # 52122362AF ? can someone please confirm before purchasing.

Thanks

first what we must understand is what we are working with. an 01 2nd gen 4x4. -just a recap-
second why the 2nd gen 98-99 wount work for a newer truck. the upper drag link is small. the last drag link connecting to pitman arm changed for newer trucks. for 2000 and up the taper on the joint is bigger. this includes 3rd gen trucks. the taper is larger. that's the only thing different between the 2nd gen kit and the 3rd gen kit. the taper on the upper drag link.
the kit sold for 3rd gen trucks works with the 2000 and up 2nd gens.
in 02 I believe the front axles for 3rd gen 2500 went to 9.25 AAM. this axle is 2" wider then 2nd gen d44s, 60s, and 70s..
you must be careful trying to skip generations 2nd and trying to bolt on a 4th gen upgrade.

The taper changed on the knuckles to. Yes with the 4th gen steering you cut about 2" of thread off of one of the TREs

Thanks for the replies, so if I'm understanding this correctly, the T-style steering upgrade for 03-08 rams will bolt into the 2000-2001 1500s, while the 4th gen upgrade will need 2" cut on the TRE in order to fit on the newer 2nd gens? I thought I read somewhere the 4th gen steering linkage would bolt right in without any modification.

This is where information is spotty. Supposedly the 03-12 Rams are wider knuckle to knuckle. Some say the 00-01 Ram 1500 and 00-02 Ram 2500/3500 are wider to (same as the 03-12 Rams). Sine modified them to be able to align them some didn't. I personally just did crossover steering as it is the best you can do.
