1 ton steering upgrade

Ok, from what I can find... the taper is 7deg (1-1/2” per foot).
Price for a ream seems to be around $80 nowadays :-(
While I was looking for this, I stumbled across references about GM 1ton steering upgrades, saying that their taper is also 7deg, and they have to ream the horn to upgrade.
One post referenced using a tapered insert ($8) instead of buying a ream (using a 7/8” drill).

I don’t know if the diameter/taper depth is the same, but this could possibly a solution.
Please do your own research to confirm.

This is to get the 98-99 HD end links to fit on 00-01 1500's correct? Can anyone confirm if the taper is the same on 00-01 1500s as the 3rd gen 2500/3500s? Some people have said this kit bolts right into 00-01 1500s: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/m...model/ram-2500
