Default 1996 Ram Stepside Questions

So, Im in the process of buying a 1996 Ram Stepside.

I was wondering what the dimensions of the box are roughly (Width, Length). Also if a 4 wheeler would fit, gate open or gate closed.

If anything, it is something I've never seen before, and I am interested in the history of the truck. The Step side bed looks very identical to the GM configuration, but the color matches perfectly with the rest of the pickup.

No 2nd gen ram ever came from the factory with a step side. It's custom, most likely a chevy bed w/mods to the bed, so the ram taillights fit. I know nobody here has one, so you are going to have to go measure it yourself.

Yeah. The biggest thing was it drove nice. Dealer was a little sketched when i put her to the floor and didnt let off untill 100, but
the tranny shifted smooth and wot put me back into the seats. Of course a 5.9 in a reg cab short box should. Also, what sort of mileage would one expect?

Really? That low? My 98 Kota 5.2 got 13-19, and this isn't much bigger.

I figured my Dakota had a bigger cab, which would sort of even it out haha. O well, I have a new yorker for decent mileage. I just like having a pickup for winter, mud, and weekends.

the ram did in fact come with a step side for a couple years (96-97 i believe). i have seen a few around the rochester area.

it is a chevy bed modified by mopar to fit our trucks.

It's not factory, it's a package from Mopar installed by the dealer.

Did they just use the same designer for the stepside panels? Seems alot the same, but its dodge so better.
