where is your distributer pointed? mines pointing towards 6&3

Does not matter(sort of) where the "rotor" is pointed as long as you lined up the old gears before removing and installed the new one's in the same position. And yes, it is possible the rotor will point to #6 when the dots are lined up like in the pic.

so if i take these gears off while the dots are facing eachother like the pic and the rotor is facing #6 ill be okay?

Should be. The gears must line up and face each other either way, like zman said, it doesn't matter where the rotor is pointing.

okay thank you! guess we shall see after i put it all back together.. i do not have the torque values though.. i dont wanna go buy a haynes manual

Grab the 1996 or 2001 Ram Factory Service manual in the FAQ/DIY section.
