Leave the serpentine belt on to hold the pulley, put a large wrench on the nut and whack it with a hammer. I had to use a 15" crescent, my 12" wouldn't quite fit.
The fan and fan clutch come off as one unit.
Might as well rent a fan clutch removal kit from your local part store. You will at least get the money back. Don't buy a wrench, probably will be more than renting.
i said screw it and took the whole water pump off and im gonna worry about the fan and stuff later. now im trying to figure out what i have to take off to get to the timing chain. pictures help im not used to working on trucks i have only 2 four cylinders lol
Crank pulley/harmonic balancer, then, a selection of bolts, which you can see, and two more, coming up thru the oil pan. Should just pull right off then.
