Default Dana 60 Swap!

Alright I want to swap Dana 60s in the front AND the rear. I know the front swap is to take the 44 out and plop the 60 in.

Now the rear I know the shackles are different. My question, are the LD 2500 lead springs 2.5 or 3? I thought all of them were 3 but now I'm not sure.

I've always read that the shackles are welded but they're really riveted. I know I can't re revit them so is my only option to weld? What's wrong with a couple big *** bolts? I feel like a weld would twist and break with pot holes and loads and stuff but I'm no master welder.

Thoughts, concerns opinions suggestions?

Most shackle flip kits come with new bolts and nutz to attach them to the frame, I like you don't like the idea of welding on the frame. So use proper grade bolts tq to spec and check them once a month. 2500 springs come in both 2.5 and 3" so yea just gotta find the right spring pack. I take it you are going to use the 3/4 springs, going to be a harsh ride with a short box truck (I think thats what you have).

I have an extended cab with a short bed,

Isn't the yoke on the 60 different?

Is the 60 8 lug?

If you find the right ld Dana 60 (gas 2500) it might have the 7290 series yoke on it, but most you find will have the 1410 yoke. You can get different yokes for the 60 for different u-joints, around 40-70 bucks. Yes the 60 is 8 bolt, there is the 7??? lbs diff and the 8800 lbs diff I am using the #8800 60's check the BOM numbers to find out what you are buying. I am staying with the 2.5 wide spring so all I did was buy a set of new spring perches and will weld them on in the new spot 44.5" wide C to C once under the truck.

Edit: Ok I thought you had a rcsb truck.

Why do you need new perches?

My leaf springs are old and worn out, and I figured I would upgrade to the 3in, because after the swap I will in all reality have a light duty 2500

What exactly is C to C?

The diff's I have like most 2500 diff's have 3" wide perches for 3" wide springs, I have no intentions of messing with my spring hangers and am staying with a 2.5 wide spring. So new perches are needed to match the 2.5 springs. Just grind one side then bust the perch off the diff grind it smooth ready for welding and go. No messing with pita rivets. The 2500 C to C is 43.5" so the new pearchs must be moved out to match 44.5". I am very close to having this job done, I just need to find another set of rims/tire to use while I get the old tires put on the new rims. I will then think of making up diy just for this swap.

L/D 3/4 tons still had the d44 up front, and the chrysler 9.25 in the back.
