Called the tranny shop...$2250 for R&R and rebuild. He said it would be a stock rebuild with "factory updates". Whatever the hell that means. It seems like a rather generic rebuild, he said that they can beef it up depending on what I want but they don't have a specific HD rebuild.
Not what I wanted to hear considering I've used this shop before.
*edit*
Talked to my dad about it, he mentioned that in the old school, that a gray-ish color in transmission fluid indicated that water was getting in. The level is fine, smells about fine. It just has a slight gray tinge. I would think that if the cooler were leaking I'd see it in the radiator and the trans. would be high on fluid and slipping. It's not slipping right now. Grrr....Imma have to get a drain pan and drop the trans. pan in the near future.

Is it slipping? Not downshifting when coming to a hill?
BTW in my parts interchange system, there are 5 NV3500 listed in Texas, and 2 NV4500, the NV4500 are in Pasadena and Grand Prairie. Either of those close to you?
