Snow,
I am hoping I didn't mess up by going with the larger valves. I bought them before I had really done a lot of reading up on our engines. Was thinking like a Chevy guy instead of a Dodge dude. A small block chevy even a 283 had 2.02 valves in it. But of course I have learned since then that the Magnum engines don't react to all the hot rodding stuff.

I know what you're talking about with the weather. I thought it might warm up this week so I could go outside and work. Instead it snowed at my house last night. But the good news is they are saying it MIGHT warm up into the low 50's or high 40's this weekend.

And I turn 53 on Saturday so I was really wanting to be able to work on stuff. A nice day in the garage is a great way to spend my Bday.

Happy Birthday! I turned 53 last month....

The larger valves will just move your powerband up slightly, and give you more power in the mid to upper RPM range. (unless you are using the kegger, in which case, it chokes out around 4500-5000. )

Happy early birthday Wildman and I think the 2.02 heads will work good with your intake. I'm still using the kegger so I don't think the 2.02s would have done much for me. My parents are also 53. Haha

HeyYou,
No I have an AirGap and a Comp Cam that is good from 800-5000 so I guess I should be good. Happy Birthday to you too a little late.

Ya I know I am getting old. My son is 28 and just got married. They are expecting their first baby soon too so I'll be a grandpa before the end of the year. I knew I was old when kids joining the military were born after the year I had enlisted into the Army. Now the fun part is I also have a 12 year old daughter still at home too. So shut your mouth youngin.

I think you will like the power from the larger valves then.

Might consider a slightly higher stall converter for the auto trans.

I found a muffler in the garage I'm going to use. My dad use to have it on his truck. It's an Aero Turbine 3030. I listened to some videos and it sounds pretty good. Hahns5.2 has a good video of it. That saves me $80

Got a bit more snow so too cold to do anything, but anyways I'm thinking of making my own y-pipe. It should be cheaper or the same price as the jegs y-pipe. Instead of the way the stock(and jegs) y pipe goes from 2" into a 2.5" pipe I want to use 2.25" pipes off the headers into a single 3". I don't know what size ball flange to use for connecting to the header. Can I buy a 2.25" ball flange to build off of or do I need a 2" ball flange and then weld a 2" to 2.25" adapter on?

If the flange is cheap, I would try one, and see.

You still have stock manifolds on the engine?

I have the stock manifolds on but the new engine is getting shorty headers. I figured the new headers had the same collector as the stock manifolds. I want to make the exhaust now so it's ready for the new engine. I am also tired of driving it without a muffler.

Well, if it works on the stock manifolds, it *should* work on the shorties as well. I would much rather have the larger pipe right from the getgo.
