I looked everywhere in town. Dealership, auto stores, hardware stores, and machine shop and no one has the right size. My dad welded on a little more material so I can grind it for a better fit. Now I just need to go out and grind it. It sucks working when it's 30 degrees out haha.
It means that my tractor doesn't move, and the transmission is sitting on blocks, somewhat disassembled.
The little bits of metal you see there, USED to be the woodruff key.... Trans input shaft would spin freely, and do absolutely nothing. Tractor no move, no hydraulics, nothing. (but, did burn gas nicely.)
Go buy a new key, I have tried that welding trick before, the weld will eventually crack and break off the key. Then where will that welded piece end up?
I *think* the slot cut in the bevel gear has been wallered out some..... I have another trans laying on the garage floor, I am going to steal parts from that one. (it has a broken input shaft, which are no longer available.)
