Default 2000 Ram exhaust

Alright guys, im new to these forums and i would like sum feed back and such. I have a 2000 Ram 5.9 single cab short bed. I am doing a new exhaust and wondering what works with you guys? I definitely don't want a check light on and prolly keep a cat on. Any suggestions?

The only thing exhaust related that will throw a check engine light are the oxygen sensors before and after the cat. As long as you have the cat in place and have the two sensors in proper locations before and after it, you can literally do whatever the frick you want with the muffler and piping after that. I have a flowmaster 40 single in dual out with two pipes dumped in front of the rear passenger tire....and it's too loud in my opinion haha i'll prob switch to a gibson muffler once this one is pretty well rusted.

Yeah, i had new exhaust put on mine over the summer and had true duals with the cat removed. When they pulled the cat though, they remove post-cat O2 sensor but left the pre-cat sensor. I didnt realize at the time and couldnt figure out why my engine was drowning itself in fuel. I had to disconnect the pre-cat sensor to help control the problem. It still burns rich of course, but atleast it doesn't stall out on me now. This is just a warning though and a follow up on the previous statement. DON'T MESS AROUND OR REMOVE THE CAT/O2 SENSORS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

I've got an 4x4 01 reg cab short bed 318. Im running shorties, jegs y pipe, magnaflow hi flow spun cat and a super 10 with duals straight out the back. Both sensors in place, no probs at all! Oh and it sounds pretty wicked

I think a lot of guys run too big a pipe without cats. I think that's where they run into problems.

How? I lost a noticeable amount of power with the cat removed. But I also have short side exhaust instead of running it out the back.

If I had a new vehicle and wanted to do an entire exhaust system I would include a hi-flow cat, but I don't. My truck runs and sounds great so I'm fine with not running a cat. But I'm OBD1 so I just have my one O2 in a H-pipe.
