Open up your engine hood and look way up, there might be a sticker under there telling you what gears are in your truck or look for the tag on the diff cover that will have a BOM number on it. -1= 3.55, -2=4.10. Gears sets run about $300 for each set, plus install kits about $100+ per set two are needed, then labor to install them. I post about $1500+ for the whole job if you are lucky.

I have one. Probably one of the last ones made. It's a 2002 4x4 2500 Quad Cab. My Father in law got it brand new and I got it when he passed in 2011. It has 107k miles now. Thing is tough as nails.

on a gasser the 4.10's will give you more power as higher rpm = more pulling power with a gasser since if you lug it they don't make any more power at that same rpm...they need to be allowed to rev higher to make more power.

diesel is quite different as the power is variable and dependent on engine load.

the more engine load a diesel has, the more power it makes.

so basically I can be "lugging it" so to speak in 5th gear up a steep hill where I would normally need to downshift with a gasoline truck (like my S10 for example) but my cummins will just start building more boost from the turbos and want to break the tires loose (and it usually does up the particular hill I'm thinking of that my S10 bogs down on, but the ram just wants to burn rubber and go like a bat out of hell up the hill). it doesn't know the meaning of the term lugging it can make ridiculous amounts of power at any RPM. pretty much why I want 3.54's... more top end speed and lower my rpms on the freeway since I am rpm limited to 3250rpm as redline...

I can safely rev higher as I have modified my engine enough to do so, but my injection pump won't fuel higher than that.

The old man took care of it so it's like new inside. Needs some minor stuff like the ABS sensor and a tune up. Pics will come soon.

Do you have a vauum operated cad? Do you even have a central axle disconnect?

If not then you do literally have the last model they ever made.

2002.5 they got rid of the cad. Which is great for axle durability but sucks on the mileage side of things. But at this point? Whats it really matter. They never got good mpg anyway lol

Yeah, the V-10's are notoriously thirsty.

I've used my V10 for 7 years now, mostly for hauling horses. I was too broke at 18 to buy a Diesel. -Probably broker in the long run though..
This last summer If I kept it topped off hauling and would get 14 mph. I didn't go faster then 55 mph though. Still scratching my head over that one.
Around town it would jump around to 8 to 12. I'm not a heavy footed driver though.
I've really enjoyed the hauling power I've gotten out of the truck, its a strong running truck, mind the transmission. I did end up having to replace it.
and yah the gas sucks..which I am just starting to see that after purchasing a cummins. But before that I never owned anything with good gas mileage so I wasn't aware of what I was missing.

Yea I had to rebuild my transmission in mine as well. Got all high toque stuff in it. I bought a little beater Ford Ranger off my buddy and I didn't realize how much gas I was putting in my v10 till last spring. I have drove my v10 as a daily driver for 3 1/2 years. I had to drive a half our to school 4 times a week. Half hour was just to school lol...
