10 Cylinders Anyone?
I miss my Jetta TDI...
at absolute worst with my flooring it everywhere and doing burnouts and what not, it got 36mpg as the absolute bottom...
it averaged 42-45mpg... and it was an 02...later gens are doing even better than that!

Would be nice if more folks would jump on the small diesel bandwagon. Even with the inflated price of diesel, they would still be cheaper to run. Biggest problem I see with it, is the MASSIVE price they want for that oil-burner 'upgrade'. Over 4K on most vehicles. That will buy a LOT of gas.....
Now, if you could find one used for a reasonable price.....

true, but they do hold their value
back when my parents bought two new ones, mom decided she didn't like hers as much and liked dads better, dad got a company vehicle at the time so didn't need it, and they sold hers back to the dealer for the same price they paid for it like a year or so later! the TDI's were in such high demand because VW stopped making them for a few years to redesign for the new 07+ emissions standards, so the 06 and older became in super high demand... so they didn't lose a penny on the car and the dealer turned around and sold the car the moment they bought it from my mom...
cummins isn't much different... 2nd gen gassers are going for a few thousand at best... second gen diesels are hard to find under 10 grand... they last forever and hold their values for a long time...and as gas prices go up, so do the values of the diesel cars/trucks because of the higher demand for more fuel efficient vehicles.

Confirming both... the V10 being a great motor and a gas guzzler indeed.
Anyway, at the moment I couldn't think of giving it away ever. Drives and pulls like a dream.
Luckily having a comp car for long distances (yes, a diesel)

Yeah... Everything seems a tad more expensive on this side of the pond. Nearly 60% of the gas price is tax... but don't get me started on this.
As for the Autobahn I guess it's not much of a difference to any other motorway. It's not that I use my truck for racing purposes...
... maybe if it would be an SRT-10 though.

Autobahns would never work in the US. Americans don't have the lane discipline for them. You would end up with some little old lady doing 40 getting rear-ended by the bimmer doing 140....... and then she would be pissed at that 'reckless driver' that hit her....
