I always tell people that heavily modified trucks for sale like that always make me a bit nervous...you just have no way of knowing what exactly was done to it and what the quality of the work was. There are a lot of ways to half-*** things when it comes to lifting vehicles...and I'm gonna guess that there's a reason that the front driveshaft isn't on there. Maybe it was simply too short, but I wouldnt touch this thing unless you're getting a killer deal on it and would have 1-2 grand left over to put into making sure everything is safe and installed properly. 5000 doesn't seem like too good of a deal.

Nice looking truck but I think $5000 is a little steep. If you can get it for around the $4200ish range I'd go for it.

I agree. I've looked all under it. And the lift seems to be done well.

Not sure if I can talk him down to $4200 but I'm going back up there Friday so maybe

I don't think there is any issue with buying a lifted truck with the caveat being that you understand what to look for. This becomes more of a knowledge issue when looking at a custom lift compared to a full purchased kit. You can easily go online to download the install instructions for the Fabtech kit and understand quickly where there could be issues or identify -- "Hey it was installed according to the instructions."

If the lift is > 6", which is not always easy to tell, then that also might be an indication of front driveshaft issue. For example, it's tall enough that the CV at the tcase was binding. Therefore, a clocking ring to the tcase would be needed.

Assuming the remainder of the truck is acceptable to you in terms of engine/interior/etc., then I'd focus on other replacement parts that might need immediate attention once driving off the lot. For example, steering, ujoints, unit bearing, brakes...

Take those into account with negotiations. Ask what they will cover, for example, 30 day warranty no questions asked! Get that in writing and be explicit -- example includes drivetrain, but may not include lift kit related.

If they are selling as-is, then you don't have much room. It's take it or leave it. However, with the front driveshaft you can tell them to go and verify gear ratios, which would then allow for an inspection of the gears. If you are good, then you say....Hey, I have to get a front driveshaft, you either get one and install for your asking bottom price OR you take MY offer (drop another $500+) since I've got take it on. Personally, I'd equate the front DS effort as $1000 easy with an assumption that the problem is gears and/or tcase. Tcase could be jacked up...so how would you test it for health w/o a driveshaft?

From the photos, you might as well figure in a set of tires. K.

Hmm, I'd ask to have the drive shaft replaced so that you can take it for a test drive. Then talk $$. $5,000 seems like a reasonalble price for this truck in well working order with those miles.

!!CHECK THAT CARFAX!! I wouldn't pay more than $4,000 for it. Nice truck but fabtech sucks b*** no joke. If its a show truck (like the owner stated) than that fabtech lift will work fine. But as soon as you take that fabtech lift offroad expect the whole suspension to buckle and break or cause premature component failure. Ive had a fabtech track-bar break on me from hitting a speedbump no bigger than an ant, Ive had a friend run through fabtech control arms over the couple 5 month's(Please dont attempt the long control arm setup fabtech offers). The zerks also fall out of the control arms all the time and on top of all this great news im telling you about ***tech. There customer service sucks! Now there are people who enjoy there fabtech and there are people who have there negatives so dont get mad if you like the lift kit and it is working just fine for you. Just saying, you better inspect that lift kit every couple months for wear and tear and dont be surprised to run through shocks either. Also there must be a reason for the front drive shaft being gone? Did he upgrade to bigger gears? Did he do the rear and the front at the same time? That would suck if you put a front drive shaft back on only to find the rear has 4.56 and the front has 3.55 also I noticed there is a body lift on there. How many inches is the body lift? Do they have the bed overloads installed? Is everything from the body lift installed? inspected the fan shroud? Just a few things to check. Tires look like they have 40-30% tread maybe more. Not being a d***, would hate to see you buy a lemon though. But it is a nice truck! Hope everything is fine with it and you get it!
