I'm gonna have to think back to some if my physics now, 2 to1 is two feet forward and one foot up, right? This hill is more like one foot forward and one and a half feet up and at the top more like 1 to 2

And it's sand......

I tried to climb one like that in my rusty old blazer.... there was just a little bit of a bump near the top, that I would constantly hit, the body would flex, and pull the trans out of gear. (auto).... Of course, trying to get moving upward again at that point was a lost cause. I got good at backing down STEEP hills. (rather high pucker factor though.)

Default Get a running start

Every 2' of distance out there is 1' drop in elevation. So if you could pull a tape out 40' at the top and drop a plumb bob down from 40' on the tape to lowest point, measure the vertical distance from the lowest point back to the tape and get a vertical drop of 20', you would have a 2 to 1 slope at 40'. You could do the same with a surveyors rod at bottom and a hand held transit/level from the top (minus your height of sight from ground). Edit: One would have to transfer grade down from the top of the slope to get total elevation drop to the bottom (with a surveyors rod and a hand held level/5' rule).

Hey You knows if you break traction in sand you're screwed. I'd get a running start. K.

My back logging road at about a 4 to 1. My total elevation drop is about 40' from the top to the bottom at the creek.

Hey you, that is the problem on all of the sand hills at this place they call "The Wall", the sand gets real soft at the top and some have a ledge that hang over towards you. This and other places around the South West is why the next project is a traction bar. My spring wrap and axle hop is terrible. I think with all four tires aired down I could go slow and get to the top. Both a traction bar and aired down is a combination that will rule with both lockers engaged.

Tin can, so with that being said then that last Pic I posted is like a 1 to 2 slope. This picture is more like 2 to 1 or so...

I was able to climb all of the hills in this Pic with out letting any air out. Just both axles locked and first gear in high range

Finally got the band saw assembled. A couple of test runs and it saws great.

It's time to start using these tools... I think the traction bar will be the first

It was the 90500 master kit and it runs @$98 and I also got the the 90100 extra outlet and the 50200 tee. The kit came with 100 feet of 1/2 line which was plenty. I probably only used 50 feet.
