Wouldja believe I've got some office servers under contract that are running AcuCOBOL-GT? The application vendor just installed an application upgrade yesterday, in fact. At least they haven't had the stunningly stupid idea of rewriting it all in Java.
Never heard of that flavor of COBOL, but where I'm going it's CICS on a server stack.
As far as the second part of your story -- the idiots at the FAA were conned by *someone* that ASP.Net is "the way to go", and these morons think that [if] the Airmen system is migrated from mainframe ADABAS/Natural
to VB.Net that Phase 3 means "upgrading" to ASP.Net.

FOR A FRIKKING OFFICE ENVIRONMENT!!!!
What the heck is COBOL lol... I know it's a programming language, never even looked at a line of COBOL code personally.
Heavily built Pontiac 400. I'm not sure whats all done to it, but my brother has more than twice as much in the engine than what he paid for the entire car. Have the original numbers matching 301 engine put away.
Unfortunately, my brother's going through a divorce, so he asked me to get it out of the garage, and try to sell it.
Tincan's right. It'll pass everything except a gas pump.
