We also have the Hunter Safety Deferral. 3-4 years ago they changed it so its lifetime. You have to hunt with someone 21+, but are no longer restricted to one year.

Also next year they're changing it so you can't shoot spikes. Needs a fork.

 

Same thing here. We've usually got deer in the back yard who make it fun when city people come to visit. We'll be sitting out on the deck when the deer hop the fence and our city guests will get all kinds of quiet and move slowly so as not to scare away the magnificent creatures of nature, or whatever it is they're thinking of the critters... So I wave to the deer and call out to them something like "Hey, babies! So nice to see you! How the hell are you today?". I get angry looks for being a jerk who'll scare away the deer that our guests have never been so close to in their entire lives, then they notice that the deer are just going about their ungulate business with no concern at all about the two-legs.

That's when I ask, "What? You thought that a mule deer, of all things, didn't see, hear, and smell us all before jumping over a chain link fence?".

It's always good for a laugh at our guests' expense. I'm in all other ways a gracious host, but I just love setting people up for that one and can't help myself.

 

I don't know what the hunting laws are in TN, haven't hunted since I moved away from Oregon, but I think it may be an unwritten law not to **** Wildman off!

 

I live in a small town in southwest VA and you could hunt at dawn if you really wanted to. Packs of Deer running around everywhere.

This neighbor got drunk when they had come around and gave the warning order that we might have to be evacuated. When the sheriff came at 3 AM to wake us up he wouldn't answer his door. They finally got him up at 4AM but wouldn't let him drive because he had been drinking.







This fire started from some contracted workers for the state who were working on a bridge. They were grinding and welding without the required safety equipment available. Well some sparks started a small fire, they at first just watched it and when they did try to put it out didn't have large enough fire extinguishers. 5 days later and 200,000+ acres later plus over 20 homes destroyed.

Not when I was growing up there. Had to go to Jefferson National forest over by the Pandapas Pond area.. One doe day a year (Thanksgiving) and only a 2 deer limit for the entire 3 week season. There got to be so many hunters that we stopped going because someone got shot every year it seemed.

 

The kids carved pumpkins this past Halloween, they were outside and eventually rotted, the deer were coming up on the porch to eat them...
